Tokenmaxxing
How token sync works
Tokenmaxxing is optional. The CLI reads usage records from supported AI coding tools on your laptop and sends a daily usage summary to uni.social so you can join your campus leaderboard.
What leaves your laptop?
When you sync, uni.social receives the date, tool name, total tokens, input/output/cache token counts, estimated cost in USD, model names, and token totals for each model. The campus leaderboard uses your total token count; your tool activity may also appear there. The detailed token, model, and cost breakdown is shown in your private account charts.
Your prompts, source code, file paths, and chat transcripts are not included in the upload. Token sync does not give the website remote access to your laptop.
What happens when I install it?
npm install -g uni-social-tokens installs the CLI on your computer. Installing an npm package runs software locally, so only do this if you are comfortable with it. Installation alone does not connect your uni.social account or enable automatic sync.
uni-social-tokens --install-autosync asks for a one-time connection code from your Tokenmaxxing page. It then sets up a job under your user account to sync changed daily totals about every 15 minutes while your laptop is on. A device credential is saved in ~/.config/uni-social-tokens/device.json with owner-only file permissions.
Can I see the data first?
Yes. After installing, run uni-social-tokens --dry-run. It prints the daily records it would send without pairing your account or uploading them. You can decide whether to connect after seeing the preview.
How do I stop or remove it?
Run uni-social-tokens --remove-autosync to stop the scheduled job. This keeps the laptop paired for manual sync. In Tokenmaxxing, use Disconnect & delete data to remove a device and its uploaded totals. You can also uninstall the package with npm uninstall -g uni-social-tokens.
This is a friendly leaderboard based on local usage records, not a verified measure of work. Estimated cost can differ from your actual bill. Questions? Contact us.
